Asai Kyoto Shijo really showcased modern Japanese hospitality at its peak. You don’t need the over-the-top attention of a 5-star hotel where staff attend to your every move. Here, everything you need is thoughtfully prepared and ready for you to handle yourself. It’s clear the hotel understood the assignment when designing the space - it’s all about being customer-centric. The rooms are compact but so smartly laid out that they feel anything but small. Every detail has been carefully considered, and the high-quality amenities make your stay effortless and comfortable. It’s the kind of place where you can tell they’ve thought about what travelers actually need. The vibe is a perfect mix of international energy and old Kyoto charm. The staff were amazing, especially Phuong, the Vietnamese receptionist, who was incredibly warm and accommodating. She went out of her way to make my stay more enjoyable.

Such an elegant beautifully design hotel! Staff is welcoming , speaks basic English. Rooms are small but loved the decor and has space to store a couple of luggage each . There is plenty of lounge area downstairs and the restaurant offers meals and breakfast( we didn’t try it ). We would request room service every day so we would come back to a clean room and fresh towels . Very well located in a quite area but close to the main shopping areas, open market. The cutest Coffee shops and bakeries around, just walking around the streets you will discover interesting spots. Laundry mat 10 min walk . There are bus and metro station around even though we often took a taxi to go to a main station or a place close by if we didn’t feel like walking. We got it a good deal on booking so there price was very good . I just loved Kyoto !

newly styled hotel in a quiet area, 10 minutes to walk into the area with many restaurants and bars; metro station very near and 1 stop away from Kyoto station; this is good if you want to make trips by train to Osaka or Nara; very friendly staff; breakfast is ok, you have Asian options which we did not try, the American or English option is quite good. The rooms are clean but very small. Anyway you can store your suitcase under the bed. Like most of the hotels in Japan that I have seen so far, there are no racks for putting your stuff.

Love our stay at ASAI. We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is super clean, very aesthetic, and smells luxurious when you enter the lobby. The room is nice, a great size, not big but good size for us two. Amenities are modern and the bed soooo comfortable!! The staff went above and beyond to help us with luggage transfer plan to Tokyo, though we ended up didn't do it. Everyone is so friendly and always smiling! Would recommend this to everyone looking for a great stay while exploring Kyoto.

The hotels location is excellent, off the main street yet close enough to the local underground station, with the added bonus of the neighbourhood temple 2 minutes walk away - no crowds! It has an on site Thai restaurant, serving good food and a very well stocked bar, open all day which serves hot and cold beverages, their coffee is excellent. The staff are helpful and courteous, nothing is too much trouble, will even lend you socket adaptors for free.
